Short version: we collect what you type into a form so we can call you back about your project. We do not sell it. We do share a scrambled version of your email and phone number with the ad platforms we advertise on, so they can tell us which ads actually brought someone in.
The longer version is below. If anything here is unclear, call (408) 216-7466 and ask.
When you fill in a form on this site — the contact form, the consultation popup, or the chat box — we collect what you put in it. That is normally your name, your phone number, the type of project, and optionally your email address and a few notes about the job. Phone is required because that is how we reach you. Email is optional.
We do not ask for and do not want financial details, government ID numbers, or anything else sensitive. Please do not put that in a form.
Separately, like most websites, we record basic technical information about visits: which pages were viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, what kind of device and browser, and which ad or link brought you here. That information is not tied to your name.
Your contact details are used to get back to you about your project, and to keep talking to you about it if you want us to. That is it. We do not add you to a newsletter, we do not rent or sell your information to anyone, and we do not pass it to other contractors.
The technical information is used to understand which pages people find useful and which ads are worth paying for.
A small number of services handle data on our behalf:
On that last point, the detail worth stating plainly: when you submit a form, your email address and phone number are converted in your own browser into a one-way scrambled value — a hash — before anything is sent. The advertising platforms receive only that scrambled value, never the address or number itself, and a hash cannot be reversed back into the original. They compare it against what they already hold to work out whether you arrived from one of our ads. Your name, your project notes, and anything else you wrote are never sent to an advertising platform.
We will also hand over information if the law requires it.
When you arrive from one of our ads, the link carries a click identifier. The advertising platform stores that identifier in your browser so that if you contact us later, it can credit the right ad. We also use short-lived browser storage that is cleared when you close the tab, to make sure a single enquiry is only counted once.
If you would rather not have any of this, your browser's settings will let you block or clear cookies and site data for this site, and most browsers have a private or incognito mode that discards it automatically. Blocking it does not affect your ability to use the site or to contact us.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@baybuilders.com or call (408) 216-7466 and we will take care of it. You do not need to give a reason, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you simply do not want to hear from us again, say so and we will stop.
We are a California business and most of the people who contact us are California residents. We do not sell personal information, and we never have. Sharing scrambled identifiers with advertising platforms for measurement, as described above, may count as "sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising" under California law. You have the right to opt out of that: email info@baybuilders.com with the word "opt out" and we will exclude you.
You also have the right to know what we have collected, to have it deleted, and to have it corrected, using the same contact details.
This site is meant for adults hiring a contractor. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and the date below. This notice was last updated on 5 August 2026.
